Located in southern Rajasthan, Bundi
was established by Rajputs of the Chauhan clan in the
twelfth century. Though the terrain is harsh, Bundi
compensates adequately through the sheer color and
vibrancy of life here. One of the major tourist
attractions is the Kajli Teej, a local festival celebrated
with typical Rajasthani gusto.
Attractions
Taragarh Fort
This fort, built in 1354, protected Bundi from repeated
Mughal onslaughts in the medieval times. The fort is
imposing, with wide walls, watch towers, and a water tank
scooped out of a single rock. The structure, located on a
steep slope and guarded by massive gates, appears almost
impregnable.
Bundi Palace
Only part of this palace is open to tourists. However, the
place is worth a visit, if only to see the beautiful
murals adorning the walls. |
